Faith + DJ | Married

I vividly remember the moment I received Faith’s email asking about wedding photography. It was the 4th of July and myself and my husband and daughter were at Fort Monroe for the fireworks show (NEVER again. Only one way out. SO MUCH TRAFFIC!). She had informed me her wedding would just be a little intimate backyard wedding at her parents home. I eagerly responded because I absolutely adore backyard weddings and being able to relax and be personable with families. So thankful she chose me!

I arrived and was immediately greeted by Faith’s sweet mother. Her home felt like HOME. So cozy and beautifully decorated in preparation for her daughter’s wedding day. Faith was in a bedroom with her Maid of Honor eagerly getting dressed. I collected her rings and bouquet and headed to the patio for natural light to capture a few detail shots. As soon as I walked out to the enclosed patio, I was just in AWE of the fall theme and decorations! A gorgeous fall backdrop with two wonderfully decorated Christmas trees, a wooden sign, and other charming rustic details. It was PERFECT!

I was totally obsessed with her bright orange and sunflower bouquet. It was stunning and perfect for the Fall theme. Her beautiful ring was made with her grandmother’s ruby and the diamonds from the promise ring that DJ had given her. So meaningful and elegant!

Once the ceremony began, Faith stepped out from home to the patio, to walk down the aisle in front of her immediate family and a few close friends. I panned my camera over to the groom who was clutching his hands together in excitement. DJ and Faith have been a couple for about 8 years and the moment had finally arrived! Faith’s sweet father proudly shook DJ’s hand as he gave away his daughter. The ceremony was short and sweet and their guests were all kindly watching as Faith and DJ tied the knot. Their son, Joseph, was also by their side, and was included in the cute jellybean pour- symbolically becoming one family.

After a few family portraits, I had to find a good spot outside for their “just married” portraits. We found good light on the side of the house and got tons of portraits all within 5 minutes! I truly love how those turned out, and you can see the love in their eyes in every single image.

After the portraits Faith and DJ cut their cake, and graciously offered me a slice. OH. MY. GOD. It was absolutely the most DELICIOUS cake I had ever eaten! Hands down! They told me it was from Nothing Bundt Cakes, which I had never tried before. I’M HOOKED, Y’ALL.

I seriously loved being present at this little backyard ceremony. Everyone was so friendly, the love was real, and the cake was amazing. Congratulations Faith and DJ!
