Hi friends! Welcome to the AKP Blog! I'm Ashley Kapic and I'm a New Orleans + Gulf coast wedding photographer. Snuggle up with your love and feel free to browse around for some inspiration and enjoy viewing my latest work! Thanks for stopping by!
There is just so much to say about this amazing couple so I’ll jump right in! Both Josh and Victoria serve our country in the US Navy and met when they worked in the same command. Victoria contacted me a few months ago about photographing their wedding in May of next year! After a FaceTime meeting they decided to book with me- YAY! They plan on getting married at First Landing State Park, so what better place to do their engagement photos!!
They arrived with their cute doggie, Oliver, so we snapped a few photos of the trio before getting into the fun stuff! I gave them a few posing tips before we began, and GOODNESS- these two nailed every single pose! My friend and makeup artist Cara did Victoria’s makeup before the session, and Victoria seriously looked like a princess. She is absolutely gorgeous! Y’all! I don’t know how I get so lucky to have the most GORGEOUS brides ever!!
While Josh and Victoria changed into their fancy outfits, I took some shots of her ring. It seriously sparkled so bright! Then I was determined to take a picture of the ring on a pinecone, but every one I found was dirty and tightly closed. Josh and Victoria helped me look but we had no such luck. We headed down to the water by the beautiful big rocks where the wind made it feel 20 degrees colder! We were all freezing and my hands were cramping up from being so cold. (Note to self- buy gloves 😂)
After we decided to walk to the docks but the tide was so high when we got there! So we had to nix that idea. Victoria asked to do a few sitting poses, which admittedly is NOT my strong suit. She showed me a few ideas she had saved on her phone, so we tried it out, AND THEY ARE MY FAVORITE!! I love adding new poses! The tall grass was a perfect backdrop of them cuddling, but apparently some little spiky stickers found their way onto josh’s butt 😂 ouch!
We walked back to the sandy area for a few more fun shots when I spotted a decent pinecone! YAY! We then decided to wrap up our session because the sun was almost set. But I really wanted to try a few more spots in the park. We drove to a couple more, quickly taking a few more images, and then parted ways!
I seriously enjoyed this sweet couple so much. I’m so honored to be their wedding photographer! CONGRATULATIONS Victoria and Josh!!
