Chandler and Nick’s wedding day at the Founder’s Inn & Spa in Virginia Beach was literally perfection. These two high school sweethearts were introduced by Jess, Nick’s sister. Her and Chandler have been friends for quite some time!
For their special day, they had planned a brunch wedding. So with the ceremony beginning at 10:30 am, I was up BRIGHT AND EARLY! I arrived at the gorgeous venue at 7:45 am to begin photographing a few details while Chandler and her bridesmaids were getting ready in the bridal suite. Her mom, Linda was super sweet and even did Chandler’s makeup! All the bridesmaids had bought false lashes, but struggled with putting them on, so I swooped in to save the day! My previous career as an esthetician came in handy, and my lash skills were still on point!
Nick and Chandler had agreed to do a first look which ALWAYS gets me excited. They are both so laid back and really neither one of them seemed nervous, just excited for the day! When Nick turned around and saw how beautiful Chandler looked, his face literally lit up with a big smile and they embraced each other before we began a few portraits.
Because their wedding day was very much relaxed, we weren’t rushed for pictures and were able to take our time and get so many good ones! We even still had free time after finishing up the bridal party photos, so I snapped a few images of Chandler and her sweet golden retriever, Skyy (who’s totally named after vodka- I learned later in the day thanks to Chandler’s dad!).
The ceremony was beautiful and my favorite part was watching Nick’s face as his bride walked down the aisle with her father. They had a short but sweet Christian ceremony and said traditional vows before exchanging rings and sealing the deal with a kiss! Skyy was a good pup (As always! Seriously such an amazing dog!) and excitedly watched her parents tie the knot.
Afterwards we took family formals, which is honestly the portion of the wedding day I dislike most, but the group was small and everyone was eager to cooperate! Nick and Chandler seriously have the sweetest families ever. I love love LOVE meeting the people who raised my brides and grooms!
The reception was a bit non-traditional in comparison to most of my weddings, but none-the-less amazing! They both stated that they weren’t very big fans of dancing (or good at it!) so they opted for games like Jenga, bean bag toss, checkers, and some board games! I actually loved this idea because everyone had fun chatting and interacting before the food was served. Oh and the food was DELISHHH! I had friend chicken and waffles, and both Nick and Chandler chose steak and Eggs Benedict – YUM!
During the reception, the sweet newlyweds agreed to sneak out for a few more portraits. I grabbed Chandler’s mom and she helped me create a stunning veil shot! Thanks, Linda! I am super excited for Chandler and Nick on this chapter of their lives. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your amazing wedding day! CONGRATULATIONS!!
