Hi friends! Welcome to the AKP Blog! I'm Ashley Kapic and I'm a New Orleans + Gulf coast wedding photographer. Snuggle up with your love and feel free to browse around for some inspiration and enjoy viewing my latest work! Thanks for stopping by!
Happy Monday, everyone! After a stressful week of losing cable and internet for 2 days, and then waking up to smash car window, I’m SO glad to be back in my groove! I finally have had the time to showcase Mandy and Matt’s amazing wedding here on my blog!!
Mandy and Matt are seriously an amazing couple. They are totally unashamed to admit they met online on the Bumble app! I mean, how cool is that?! They are seriously perfect for each other and it’s safe to say all their friends agree after listening to their speeches!
Upon arriving to the amazing hotel where all the bridesmaids were getting ready, Hilton Norfolk The Main, I was totally excited. The hotel was absolutely stunning! I was welcomed by the bridesmaids and mother of the bride, and knew this was going to be such a fun bunch to spend the day with. After all the ladies got dressed, we headed downstairs to do a bridemaids first look and head to the the party bus that Maggie, the Maid of Honor, got for Mandy!
WHAT?! after realizing the bus wasn’t there, Maggie got on the phone and the company basically said that the bus doors wouldn’t open and couldn’t come. THAT’S SO CRAZY! I can’t believe they never even called to let her know. UGH. But luckily here were able to get a taxi van and no one was late! YAY!
We pulled up to the church and I scouted for a first look spot. The sun was super high in the sky so I made use of a shaded area under a tree and turned Matt around while he waited for Mandy. They both seemed so relaxed! Mandy walked up and tapped him on the shoulder and Matt turned around and his face literally LIT UP! That smile was SOOO genuine! Gave me chills! Best first look reaction EVER!
After the Mass, we all headed to the Slover Library in Norfolk. I arrived earlier and was able to take lots of pretty photos of the gorgeous exterior. The inside was JUST AS STUNNING! If you haven’t been- GO!!
Family portraits and bridal party portraits took place on the staircase inside which had the most perfect natural light! The big tall windows inside were honestly the greatest thing ever. (Good pick Mandy and Matt!) Then we did a few just married portraits before they joined the cocktail hour for some mingling.
Mandy and her mom put in a LOT of work for this beautiful wedding! Since the venue was held in a library, Mandy used old books as table numbers, and inside each one was one of their engagement photos. But that’s not all! Each place card was a scroll with a literary quote tailored to EACH GUEST! She also incorporated a single rose, a meaningful quote, and silver angel in memory of her childhood best friend who recently passed away with cancer. Mandy is such an amazing person with great style and amazing taste in friends!
After dinner and speeches, Mandy kicked off the night with a first dance with her dad, and then with her new husband. I ran up the stairs to the balcony SO fast to get some cool shots from above. Totally kicked off my shoes to run faster LOL! They danced to Over and Over Again by Arianna Grande and Nathan Sykes- PERFECT song! I wish it lasted longer haha!
After a little bit of dancing I packed up my things and wished them well. I truly LOVE Mandy and Matt and I could only hope that all my couples are just as perfect as these two. I will certainly miss them!
Gorgeous pictures. Looks like a great time was had by all. Beautiful couple. Much happiness.
These are amazing! I can’t believe the bus company didn’t even find it necessary to let people know they wouldn’t be showing up 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ But you killed this wedding!
I absolutely LOVE all the special personal touches throughout their day and her dress……WOW. These are so beautiful Ashley – you’ve captured their day so beautifully!!!
Soooo Beautiful!!! I’m sure this couple is so thrilled to have these images! Great job!
