Hi friends! Welcome to the AKP Blog! I'm Ashley Kapic and I'm a New Orleans + Gulf coast wedding photographer. Snuggle up with your love and feel free to browse around for some inspiration and enjoy viewing my latest work! Thanks for stopping by!
Okay, strap yourselves in…because Sarah & Josh’s NYE wedding will BLOW YOUR MIND! But first, a little backstory. The groom, Josh, was the the one to initially contact me. I found it pretty strange because I have always communicated through brides, and never really heard from grooms or their wishes regarding photography. After exchanging a few emails, we hopped on FaceTime for a consult and I immediately understood! Josh and Sarah were planning all of this TOGETHER! I was so excited to see a groom take interest and even help with the planning process! Way to go Sarah and Josh for working together!!
Both Sarah and Josh were initially against a First Look, and their wedding ceremony was at NIGHT! I was a bit nervous I would be able to please them knowing flash images are not the kind of photos they love from my portfolio. As the wedding date approached, they changed their minds! YAY! I was thrilled. Sarah and Josh both expressed wanting photos at the St. Louis Cathedral and on Canal Street. With an already tight timeline, I kept advising them to make some changes. They would not, and I’ll tell you why I’m so glad they wouldn’t budge in just a moment!
Me and my second shooter, Cat, met up with Sarah and her bridesmaids for some quick detail shots before heading downstairs to catch an Uber. We had to travel to the St. Louis Cathedral which is in the French Quarter, and traffic was a NIGHTMARE! So what do we do? We all get out and start walking! HAHA!! We met up with Josh and the groomsmen, found a cute little place in Jackson Square, and began with a First Look! Surprisingly the spot worked out even though the whole time I was worried about all the crowds since it was a holiday! YAY!
After a few portraits we all walked to Canal Street for some bridal party portraits. Then someone pointed out that the streetcar was coming and I shushed everyone out the way! Some of my FAVE images are those quick 20 seconds while it was passing! Sarah and Josh were RADIATING with happiness and joy and I’m super glad they wouldn’t listen to me because I was able to get all the shots they so badly wanted!!
After the most beautiful ceremony at the Immaculate Conception Jesuit Cathedral, an AMAZING second line ensued. A jazz band, police escorts, feathery umbrellas…ALL OF IT!! everyone was having a blast!
The reception was perfect. The Intercontinental Hotel did an amazing job and the food was so yummy. The party was exceptional and the best part was the confetti canons at midnight! It was a mind-blowing experience and I am thankful Sarah and Josh trusted me for such an incredible day!
This is a beautiful wedding. Love the group shots!
Oh my GOSH! What a stunning wedding. The pop of red in her shoes? SO GOOD! And I love the way you caught the twinkle lights on the trees. Just gorgeous!
Omg all these photos are SO pretty!! It looks like this wedding was just so much fun!
This is so beautiful!!!
